Re: LENS therapy?
Wed, May 9, 2007 - 6:41 AMI had scheduled an assessment to begin LENS therapy a few weeks ago, but someone lent me their Alpha-Stim and it seemed to help a lot. I'm going to give the Alpha-Stim a shot for a month or so and if it doesn't help I'll reschedule my LENS appointment and begin that.
You should read, "The Healing Power of Neurofeedback", by Stephen Larsen if this is something you might want to explore.
Essentially, the LENS treatment restores flexibility to the brain. When you start having anxiety/depression/cognitive problems that's usually an indication that your brain has become "stuck" in a electro-chemical loop. The LENS treatment has shown a remarkable ability to get you out of that loop and restore optimal function. The treatment will be expensive for myself, since the nearest LENS specialist is about 170 miles away... and with gas prices right now I really can't afford to get weekly treatments. The LENS treatments are about $75/week, plus assessment fees and follow-up. The good news is that it only takes just one half-hour treatment per week, but it could take up to 15-30 weeks to get your brain "unstuck", depending on the severity and whether your problems are from nature or nurture. Genetically inherited problems seem to take longer.
I'll keep you posted if the Alpha-Stim doesn't work and I eventually start using the LENS treatment.

Re: LENS therapy?
Sat, May 26, 2007 - 9:46 AMActually I'm already reading the book.
I'm very interested in all of the neurologically based biofeedback work. I'm definitely considering purchasing a LENS setup because at least 80% of my clients have suffered head injuries. Only problem being the $6000 price tag.
